On
July 11, 2001 Southern Tool & Smith Hamilton Shops merged operations in
order to offer you our customers the highest level of service.
Southern
Tool & Equipment has been a family owned and operated company since
it's conception in 1954. My father started in the business working a
truck for Snap-On Tools in Miami. Over the years this small
franchise developed into what now is one of the leading distribution
companies of Tools & Equipment in South Florida. Southern Tool
started out in the automotive market. First by selling from a
truck to automotive repair shops from Ft. Lauderdale to Homestead.
As time went on, the opportunity to stock and resell products grew more
and more and by 1973 Southern Tool was an established distributor of
automotive tools selling to ``wagon Jobbers" and automotive
part houses. Our Business grew substantially over the next several
years. However in 1980 we had foreseen a change in the market
and began to focus in other areas such as the Industrial and Export
markets. In 1993 we took a big step into the Construction and
Material Handling industries and by 1995 we had outgrown two
different facilities.
Southern
Tool has emerged into a major player in the Miami market for industrial,
automotive, construction and petroleum products over the past several
years. In addition we are an authorized distributor for over 275
different product lines, some of which are the best-known manufactures in
the United States. Southern Tool has carefully developed its product
mix not based on our requirements but rather the requirements of our
customers. We handle only top quality products in order to give our customers the best service and peace of
mind that what they purchase will hold up to the scrutiny of today's
demanding requirements.
We
decided it was time to purchase our own building and in 1996 Southern Tool
bought and paid for a 13,500 sq ft. building conveniently located
only minuets from Miami International Airport. This has proven to be
beneficial to facilitate the extensive inventory of products that we stock
for our Exporting Market
