VacuPress Veneer Glue

Successful pressing depends as much on the right glue as it does on the right press. To assure the best bond possible we have developed Unibond 800, a two part liquid urea resin glue for use with the VacuPress. Urea resin is the industry standard for veneering glues, but most require high temperature for proper bonding. Unibond 800 has been formulated to provide the same bond quality at room temperature, making it an excellent choice for vacuum pressing.

Unibond 800 is a modified urea resin formaldehyde two part adhesive with a translucent liquid resin and a powdered catalyst. Unibond 800 is designed to provide a rigid, gap filling glue line with faster than usual set times

DISTINCTIVE PROPERTIES

• Rigid glue line - Eliminates crazing and cold creep.

• Low pressure bonding - Excellent gap-filling abilities up to 0.02.

• Highly water resistant - Good for moisture sensitive areas.

• Neutral tan color - Suitable for light woods as well as darker ones - available in white for extremely blonde veneers. Unibond is also tintable with aniline dyes.

• Adjustable set time - Set times can be altered by temperature and mixing ratios.

• Excellent open assembly time - Perfect for large panels and multi-layered laminations where clamping pressure may be delayed.

• Mixes easily - Does not lump - and cleans up with soap and water.

• Low shrinkage - For maximum panel stability

In an attempt to offer the finest veneering and laminating glue, we are always looking at ways to improve Unibond 800's performance. We talk to woodworkers every day and listen eagerly to their comments and experience with Unibond 800. We have heard many times a desire to have less bleed through when pressing veneer. Bleed through unfortunately is a sign of good penetration yet we hear the need to minimize it.

In response to this problem, we have developed a brand new product called Unibond Blocker. Unibond Blocker is a white powdered filler designed to minimize or eliminate bleed through of Unibond 800 glue on standard commercially sliced veneer. The amount of bleed through blocked depends on veneer species, cut, and thickness.

Unibond Blocker is offered in two sizes, a 1.5lb container and 3lb container.

1.5lbs used at full strength will mix with approximately 1.25 gallons of Unibond 800.
