Available in Two
Different Styles: Reglet and Retrofit!
Most local, state and
federal building codes dealing with residential chimney
construction call for a flashing and counter flashing system
at the chimney/roof juncture. This is because the chimney is
on a separate foundation from the home and is subject to
movement independent from the home. The flashing, generally
attached to the roof, has to move freely from under the
counter flashing (attached to the chimney), or the water
seal becomes broken and leaks develop.
-
Reglet
style kits are installed into the chimney wall and come
complete with all the components needed to flash most
single-flue chimneys from a 3/12 to a 16/12 roof .
-
Retrofit
style kits are installed over the chimney wall and come
complete with all the components needed to flash most
single-flue chimneys from a 3/12 to a 16/12 roof .

Either
style has been in use for years by roofers everywhere
and are widely accepted practices.
