From the Manufacturer
Stand back folks, we don't know how big this thing is going to get. The heavy-duty trunnions support a cast-iron blade arbor housing along with a precision-ground cast-iron table, two additional 27-by-10-inch solid cast-iron wings, and a T-style miter slot. The miter gauge includes an extra-long bar for larger crosscutting capacity. An extruded-aluminum front guide rail allows a 30-inch rip to the right and 12-inch rip to the left capacity. Completely prewired, this saw includes a unique quick-connect, motor-to-switch plug for easy setup. The 1-1/2 hp, totally enclosed, fan-cooled motor includes overload protection and is UL listed. Other features include a quick-release, precision-style, T-square-type rip fence; a dust hood with a 4-inch outlet for easy hookup to your collection system; and a forged, one-piece, precision-ground arbor that allows minimal blade runout. Convenient rail-mounted on/off switch. For a limited time, a 10-inch carbide blade is included.

A solid table saw., June 15, 2000

I have been an owner of a delta table saw for the last 3 years. I have blown 2 motors and Delta has given me nothing but trouble. In the last 2 years I have bought a Jet Dust Collector and a Joiner. I just bought the Jet Contractors Saw and it is a dream come true. Jet also treats their customers well. I am pleased with this saw and all my other Jet products.

An Excellent buy., June 10, 2000

I bought my saw at the Overland Park woodworking show, so I lucked out. It was already assembled. However, I took the time to check the alignment. Be careful when you attach the fence guide to the table and the cast iron extensions. The cast extensions on my saw were not perferctly square. Tightening the fence bolts put a bow in the fence guide, and made it impossible to adjust the fence correctly. I solved the problem by inserting some brass shims between the fence guide and the extensions.

Once I aligned everything, my saw cut like a dream; however, I would recommend replacing the blade with a top quality unit like the Forrest Woodworker 2. With this saw and blade, I was able to cut edge-joined planks without using my jointer. The saw cut was true and smooth enough.

It's an excellent buy for the home shop.

Great upgrade table saw, March 24, 2000

I was struggling with an older Craftman table saw when my wife said "I'll buy you a new one". Bless her heart, this saw is a wonder compared to my old one. Once I got it set up and trued I got to cutting and what a pleasure. It does develop a high pitch harmonic whine at times but I usually wear ear plugs in the shop anyway. Now all I need is a dust collector and I'll be on my way with new projects galore.
